Having a plan and setting an intention for your birthing experience is so important to us! Knowing what you value most helps us navigate this journey alongside you in a way that feels empowering and personal. While it’s important to remember plans may change a bit- especially within the scope of birth- having an outlined guide allows us to feel as close to the plan as possible. It’s also a useful tool to use in directing conversations with your provider about your birthing intentions & desires. Birth plans help you feel seen, heard, supported, and most importantly, included in the decisions surrounding your experience.

As you get further along in your pregnancy and do more research, you may want to add additional details and take away others- this is totally normal and encouraged. Remember, this is one of the more memorable moments of your entire life!!

I’ve created a birth plan template that we will talk through in birthing class, and have the opportunity to review 1:1.

Until then, I’d like you to begin thinking about the day of your birth. Who’s there? What do you want it to feel like? Are you open to interventions or do you prefer to stay away from any specific intention? You can begin to research postpartum medications given to baby after birth to help inform your decisions around those choices.
